Who doesn’t love clay? The process of forming a cup on a pottery wheel, or building a sculpture with your own hands is a rewarding experience at any age. Designing functional works of art brings your child beyond the tactile experience and into the realm of engineering; form and function.
Sculpting and manipulating forms will stimulate your child’s mind and imagination to generate concepts in a multitude of perspectives. The clay component of our program is designed to strengthen all levels of artists from pinching, wedging, rolling, joining, building, glazing and finally presentation. The drying and firing process for clay takes two weeks so we begin our units with clay before moving into drawing and painting.
For younger artists we use self hardening clay that does not require firing.
